Herbert H. Nauss Jr. '69,
Anthony J. LoSapio '60 and
Kenneth G. Van Dine '61 have been chosen as the Albright Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2011.
Grant was a member of the baseball, football and track & field teams at Albright, earning 11 varsity letters. He set a school record in the 440 yard dash.
Grant lived a distinguished life, serving as a first district assemblyman, practicing law for 40 years, and serving as a field director for the American Red Cross during World War II. He was senior class president during his time at Albright.
Born on August 29, 1903, Grant earned a bachelor of science from Albright and his juris doctor from the Catholic University of America.
Nauss was one of the most talented football players to ever suit up for the Lions, earning two MAC North All-Conference selections. He was the ECAC All-East Division II Defensive Back of the Year in 1967, and an Associated Press All-State and Kodak All-American in 1968.
Nauss was a captain in 1968 and helped lead the Lions to the MAC North championship. He was signed as a free agent by both the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Colts, and went on to enjoy a successful semi-professional career.
Nauss earned a degree in history from Albright College, and added a masters in guidance and counseling from Fort Valley State College.
LoSapio was a four-year starter on the football team, earning ECAC All-East and Associated Press Little All-American honors in 1959. He was the Pretzel Bowl MVP in 1958 and Homecoming MVP in 1959.
LoSapio went on to become one of the top high school wrestling coaches in New Jersey state history, coaching Madison H.S. for 20 years. He has been inducted into the Morris County Wrestling, District Nine, Region Three Wrestling, Madison High School and New Jersey Coaches Association Halls of Fame.
LoSapio majored in history at Albright and later achieved a master of arts degree at Springfield College.
Van Dine was a member of the Albright basketball team that won the 1960-61 MAC championship; Van Dine was then named to the Eastern Regional All-Tournament team after his exploits in the NCAA championships. He led the Lions in rebounding three times and was given the Ron Regar Trophy in 1960.
Van Dine was very active in service projects, earning both the DeWitt Clinton Masonic Award and Paul Harris Fellow for Community Service.
After earning a degree in biology and chemistry from Albright, Van Dine completed medical school at Drexel University.
The Albright Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2011 will be honored on Friday, October 28, in the Schumo Center.
