Amy Hoelscher# collected a loose ball in Kean University's goal box and dropped a short pass to classmate #
Allie Yoder# who then chipped the ball over the Cougar's goalkeeper to give Albright a 1-0 non-conference win Monday evening at Shirk Stadium.
The game winner was Yoder's first of the season, and helped to even the Lady Lions record to 8-8-2 on the season. For the visting Cougars the loss was their third straight and their second in overtime.
Initially setting up the game winning play was when Albright earned a free kick opportunity right outside the Cougars goal box. Senior #
Kim Spataro# tried to drive the ball low but was stopped by the Cougars defense. However the ball managed to skip back out to Spataro who then dribbled it to the end line. From there she chipped the ball into the goal box where it found the foot of Hoelscher.
Hoelscher laid a perfect back pass to Yoder which set up the game winning opportunity. Prior to the huge, play the Lions offense was held to just four shots, two of which were on goal. The visiting Cougars recorded a total of 22 shots, 10 of which found their way into sophomore goalkeeper #
Olivia Giuliano#'s hands. The shutout was Giuliano's fifth of the season, and improved her record to 5-5-1.
As a whole, Kean led the match in corner kick opportunities with five, while Albright managed two. In the saves column Leandra Russo tallied just two stops for the Cougars.
Women's Soccer will return to action on Wednesday when the host Susquehanna University at 5 p.m. in Shirk Stadium.
