READING, Pa. - Needing either a win or a tie to earn their first appearance in the Commonwealth Conference tournament since 2006, the Lady Lions (8-8-3/3-3-1 Commonwealth) earned a 0-0 draw with Widener University (13-4-3/3-3-1 Commonwealth) Saturday evening in Shirk Stadium.
The draw also knocked Widener University out of the postseason as a result of their lost to Elizabethtown College on Monday. Albright defeated the Blue Jays by the score of 2-0 to give them the tie-breaker over the Pride. The postseason appearance which will take place on Tuesday, November 3rd will be the second for Head Coach
Pat Stanco since taking over the women's program in 2005.
Through all 110 minutes of play, the Lions and Pride played a very physical back and forth match. Despite leading the match with an 11-5 shot advantage, the red and white managed to hang on with solid defensive play by sophomore goalkeeper #

Widener also closed out Saturday's match in corner kick opportunities as well (8-3). Giuliano posted five saves in the victory, and senior midfielder #
Amy Hoelscher# came up with one save as well. For the Pride Alee Gunter and Vanessa Hejnas each recorded one save in the tie.
As the number four seed in this year's tournament the Lady Lions will travel to Grantham, Pa. to face the number one seed and regular season champs Messiah College (17-0-1/7-0 Commonwealth). Earning the number two seed in the tournament was Arcadia University (13-1-3/5-1 Commonwealth), and the number three seed went to Elizabethtown College (9-9/4-3 Commonwealth).
A start time for Tuesday's playoff game will be announced on Monday.
