READING, Pa. - With a record setting performance by #
Beth Moran#, the Lady Lions (5-7) got back to their winning ways shutting out Wells College (1-8) by the final score of 5-0 Sunday afternoon at Shirk Stadium.
Moran, who has been quiet offensively this season, was dominant Sunday afternoon tallying a single game record of three assists. It also marks the second time this season that an Albright player has achieved that mark. #
Caitlin Feldman# also tied the record back in the second week of the season in the 3-2 win over Cabrini College.
From start to finish the red and white controlled the non-conference match. The game's top goal scorer was senior #
Kelly Zepp# who netted a pair of goals in the win. Each netting a single goal in the victory was #
Gia Boscola#, Feldman, and #
Pam Swope#. Swope's score was the first of her career at Albright, while Boscola netted her 10th of the season. Feldman's goal marked her fourth of the season.
Defensively, the Lions held Wells to just three shots on goal all afternoon. Coming up with two saves in the first 35 minutes of play was freshman #
Champale Thomas-Brown#. The Harrisburg, Pa. native not only earned her first career start against the Express, but also picked up her first career win and shared shutout as well. Taking over in the second half was #
Kaitlyn Johnstone# who tallied just one more save for the Lions defense.
On the other side of the field Well's goalie Martha Nowlan accumulated five saves in the contest, and came up with some huge saves in the later part of the second half.
The Lady Lions also controlled the penalty corners category tallying nine as compared to Well's four.
Field Hockey returns to action on Tuesday when they host Messiah College in a Commonwealth Conference match scheduled for 4 p.m.
