ASTON, Pa. - Led by an overtime breakaway score by Nica Meccariello the host Knights of Neumann University (3-3-1) defeated the Lady Lions (1-4-1) in 96th minute by the score of 1-0 Friday afternoon at Sun Valley High School.
Deadlocked at 0-0 through the first 90 minutes of the play Albright advanced to their second overtime period of the season. Despite leading the contest with 20 shots, 15 of which were in the second half, the red and white were unable to put away the Knights.
Neumann nearly ended the game in the final seconds of regulation on their first breakaway of the night but was stopped by the crossbar. Albright also had an overtime breakaway opportunity in the 95th minute, but was stopped by Neumann goalkeeper Jacqueli McAllister.
The Lions offense dominated the contest not only totaling 20 shots, but a game high eight corner kicks as well. Neumann totaled just three corner kicks in regulation and did not record one in the overtime period.
