Rutgers-Camden Sneaks Past Women's Soccer

READING, Pa. - With just six minutes remaining in regulation, Rutgers-Camden (4-6-1) midfielder Christian Vitagliano dropped a long ball over the Lions defense giving the Raptors a 1-0 victory over the Lady Lions (2-5-1) Monday evening at Shirk Stadium.

The goal was Vitagliano's first of the season for her, and was assisted by senior, Kate Campbell. The ball was passed from Campbell to Vitagliano, and the junior was able to bomb a deep shot in to the top back corner of the net over Albright goalkeeper, #Olivia Giuliano#'s outstretched arms.

A physical game throughout the evening, Rutgers-Camden was issued two yellow cards, and the two teams combined for 24 fouls respectively.

Albright dominated the corner kick category by a total of seven to three, the Lions also won the shots battle seventeen to seven.

Jessica Leoni, who started the game as a midfielder, took over in goal for the Raptors to start the second half, and picked up her first win of the season, by making five tough saves.

Giuliano made four saves to keep Albright in the game throughout the night, but the lone goal would be the decider in the contest.

Several Lions were able to record multiple shots on offense, none of which sneaking past the Camden defense to give the red and white the crucial goal they were looking for.

Women's Soccer will return to Shirk Stadium tomorrow evening, to take on Lancaster Bible College in another 7 p.m. non-conference match.
