Meet Results
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – In only their third meet of the of the season, the Albright Track and Field team traveled to Ursinus College to take part in the 2010 Collegeville Indoor Classic. Overall the men's team placed 7th out of 13 squads, while the women's team posted a 12th place finish out of 14 teams Friday afternoon.
Leading the men's team in Friday's meet was
Clif LeGrand who placed second in the triple jump, Anthony Pellegrino who placed second in the shot put, and
Justin Gewirtz who placed second in the high jump.
LeGrand closed out the triple jump event with a distance of 42-05.00, while Pellegrino's throw was marked at 41-10.75, and Gewirtz's jump was marked at 6-02.00.
LeGrand was also a top-10 finisher in the long jump and high jump events as well. In the high jump, the sophomore placed 9th with a jump of 18-11.75 and in the long jump LeGrand placed 5th with a jump of six feet.
Placing fifth in the shot put was
Dane Canonico with a throw of 40-10.50, followed by
Jordan Gilbert who placed seventh with a throw of 40-00.75.
Moving into the track events
Bob Kellert and
Dan Dalton finished in 10th and 11th place respectively in the mile run. Kellert led the way for the red and white with a time of 4:48.06 and Dalton was right on his heels with a time of 4:49.89.
Switching over to the women's meet,
Meghan Loos placed 12th in the 55 meter dash with a quick time of 8.06 seconds. Finishing in 16th place was
Mackenzie Miller (8.14) followed by
DeZare Lyles in 20th place (8.35).
Freshman
Taylor Kutz nearly missed out on the program record in the 200 meter dash by mere seconds as she finished the event in 9th place with a time of 28.25 seconds.
Shannon Loos also placed ninth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.56.
In the women's mile run
Gabby Stine crossed the finish line with a time of 6:08.89 to earn 8th place. Meghan Loos finished in 8th place in the high jump while her sister Shannon went on to record the best overall finish for the women's team as she took third in the long jump with a jump of 15-04.25.
Miller closed out Friday's meet with a top-5 finish in the triple jump with a final distance of 31-05.75.
Track and Field returns to action next Friday when they take part in the Muhlenberg College Invitational.
