Box Score
READING, Pa. - It was another solid performance for the Albright women's soccer (7-3-3) team as they recorded their fourth shutout in five games, as they handed DeSales University (5-6-1) a 3-0 non-conference decision Wednesday evening in Shirk Stadium. Leading the red and white to the win was #
Lauren Panichelle#, who netted two of three goals.
Assisting on both of Panichelle's goals, her third and fourth of the year, was freshman #
Mel Sullivan#. The two scores were the results of perfectly placed corner kicks that Panichelle was able to redirect past the Bulldogs goalkeeper.
Sealing the win in early in the second half was #
Katie Cooper#, who quickly turned a pass from #
Jordan Cassidy# into her fifth goal of the year.
With the 3-0 decision, Albright extends its recent hot streak to 4-0-1 since their September 25 loss to Delaware Valley. The red and white has also outscored their opposition 15-1 in those five matches.
Goalkeeper #
Olivia Giuliano# recorded five saves to earn her fifth win of the year and third shutout. The Lions offense tallied a combined eight shots in the match, with six finding their way between the goal posts.
DeSales offense led the match in shots with 12, but was only able to put five on target. Both teams were even in corner kick opportunities as each team recorded five.
Women's Soccer returns to Shirk Stadium on Saturday when they host Elizabethtown College at 6 p.m. in a Commonwealth Conference match.
