Game 2 Box Score

LEESBURG, Fl. – It was a tough first day for the Lions (0-5) on their 2010 spring trip to Florida as they dropped back-to-back games to Anderson University (IN) by the final scores of 4-1 and 15-3 Sunday afternoon.

In the opener the red and white tallied three hits, with their lone run coming in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI single by Justin Danser, which scored Kevin Butler. Prior to that inning sophomore lefty Tyler Storms held the Ravens (2-3) to just two runs through the first two innings of play.

Anderson did not tack on their final two runs of the afternoon until the bottom half of sixth inning to secure the 4-1 victory. Overall Storms had a solid outing in his six inning appearance, totaling four strikeouts and one walk.

Also producing at the plate in the opener was Casey Lawrence and Shane Stein who both recorded singles in the tough loss.

Moving into the nightcap, the Ravens wasted little time taking a substantial lead through the first three innings of play. Through the first three frames of game two, Anderson put up 13 hits, six of which were doubles to take a 10-0 lead.

Following the tough start, the Albright pitching staff settled down and allowed just five more hits through the final four innings. The Lions who were held hitless through the first 4 ½ innings got a major boost from lead-off hitter Matt Pannella who recorded a three-run double in the bottom half of the fifth.

Combined the Lions tallied five hits in the nightcap, and it was junior right Pat Brady who closed out the contest on the hill.

Storms and Matt Rehrig were handed the losses on Sunday in their second and third appearances of the year for the red and white.

Baseball returns to action tomorrow morning when they take on St. Norbert College in a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
