READING, Pa. – Freshman defender #Mel Sullivan# had quite the evening as she scored a pair of goals to lead the Lady Lions (4-3-2) to a 4-0 win over Goucher College (1-5-1) Monday evening in Shirk Stadium. Her first was scored on a corner kick opportunity, while her second was on a penalty kick in the second half.

After Sullivan broke the scoreless draw in the 11th minute on her corner kick goal which bent around the Goucher goalkeeper and defense, #Lauren O'Brien# made it a 2-0 game in the 24th minute. Following the ball after it slipped through the hands of Gopher goalie Kellen Matthews, O'Brien buried the ball into the back of the net.

Setting up the goal scoring opportunity was #Jordan Cassidy#, who took the shot that slipped through Matthews' hands. With a 2-0 lead going into the halftime break, the Lady Lions knew that they could not sit back in the second.

Sullivan got the Lady Lions going again in the second half, with her penalty kick goal in the opening minutes. #Isla Wilczynski# put the final nail in the coffin from about 20 yards out. After receiving a pass from #Alissa Marcarelli#, Wilczynski took a great forward touch and drove the ball to the far corner.

Defensively, the Lions played an extremely smart and physical match. Combined, the Gophers were allowed just seven shots on the night, with only three landing in between the pipes. Picking up the win, was junior #Olivia Giuliano# who made all three saves for the Lions.

Albright's offense was also solid totaling 15 shots on the night, with 12 of those ending up on goal. The red and white moved the ball well through the middle third and did not hesitate on their chances.

Women's Soccer returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Lancaster Bible College for a 4 p.m. non-conference match.
