Alex Talbot's header completed a second half comeback as the Albright College women's soccer team improved its playoff standing with a 2-1 victory at Widener on Thursday.
Talbot headed in the winner in the 77th minute off
Jena Muller's corner kick. Albright equalized in the 65th minute as the Lion strikers linked up, with
Jordan Cassidy feeding
Erin Hand for the goal.
Widener scored on the first significant action of the game, with
Karen Thomas finishing off an assist from
Kelly Buckley.
Cassidy unleashed three shots in three-plus minutes of the first half, as the Lions swarmed the Widener net. At halftime, Albright would have a 10-3 advantage in shots but still trail by a goal.

Kelly Burian came up with a pair of saves later in the first half. In the 32nd minute Cassidy tried again, but was saved by
Olivia Pfautz.
Widener switched their goalies at halftime, and
Vanessa Hejnas was tested immediately with a save on Talbot.
Albright improves to 9-5 and more importantly, 4-2 in the Commonwealth Conference. The Lions host Stevenson on Homecoming this Saturday, where a victory could move them closer to a playoff berth.
