The Albright College women's soccer team won an emphatic Commonwealth Conference decision, 4-0 at Lycoming on Tuesday.
The Lions struck on the first major action of each half. In the third minute,
Rebecca Sartorio knocked in
Dylan Shipe's free kick to open the scoring.
A pass deflected into the path of Sousa in the 20th minute, and the freshman beat the goalkeeper near post to double the lead.
Sousa scored on the first shot of the second half for a 3-0 Albright lead. Later, off a Shipe corner kick,
Kelly Burian hit the crossbar and
Natalie Wilson headed in the rebound for the final 4-0 scoreline.
Sartorio had registered four shots in the opening 10 minutes. After her goal, she missed twice and was then saved by Warrior goalkeeper
Caitlin Dougherty.
Lycoming's
Alexis Bowman hit the crossbar later in the first half. Lion goalkeeper
Alexis Lorusso made two saves in the final 50 seconds of the period to preserve the halftime shutout.
Freshman goalkeeper
Stacey Porter came in for the final 15 minutes and recorded four saves without allowing a goal.
Albright improves to 6-6-1, 2-2 and will host rival Lebanon Valley on Homecoming Saturday in a crucial Commonwealth Conference game.
