The Albright College women's soccer team fell to the Messiah Falcons by a score of 3-0 in the final game of their season tonight at Shirk Stadium.
Messiah drew first blood in the match twenty five minutes in as
Macaulay Soto took advantage of an Albright defensive miscue and buried a goal past goalkeeper
Alexis Lorusso.
The Falcons added on to their lead just ten minutes later when
Marisa Weaver was able gather a pass and blast a goal past an outstretched Lorusso.
Twenty minutes into the second half, Messiah increased their lead to three on a
Hannah Weyland missile into the upper corner of the net.
The Lions were able to hold the Falcons scoreless for the remaining twenty five minutes of the second half but were unable to generate any offensive production to chip away at the three goal lead.
With tonight's defeat the Lions end their season with a record of 7-9-2, 3-5-1 while the ninth-ranked Falcons improve to 16-2-1, 9-0.
Seniors
Mel Sullivan, Steph Przybyszweski, and
Jena Muller were honored prior to the game as this was their final time playing for the Lions. The rest of the Albright Lions will look to bounce back next season despite losing their three key seniors, in hopes of contending for a Middle Atlantic Conference championship.
