Box Score
The Albright College women's soccer team conceeded an insurance goal right after pulling to within one, falling 3-1 on the road to Ursinus Friday night.
Centerback
Mel Sullivan went on the attack for the first time in the 78th minute and found sophomore
Rebecca Sartorio with a cross. With the Lions trailing 2-0, Sartorio volleyed it in the far netting to give Albright a chance.
A minute later Sartorio found freshman
Emily Sousa through the middle. Sousa's breakaway chance was saved, and Sartorio couldn't quite get on the end of the rebound. Ursinus went the other way and scored for a 3-1 lead.
The Lions struggled to clear their end early on and the Bears made them pay.
Ama Achiaw broke to the endline in the 4th minute and dropped a pass back to
Julia Senkevich for the opening goal, and then came down the right side after a failed clearance and hit the near side of the crossbar.
Albright's best chance of the first half came in the 14th minute. Junior
Erin Hand cut past her defender twice but no one could get on the end of her dangerous low cross in front of goal.
After
Nicole Good's volley made it 2-0 Ursinus, Albright goalie
Kelly Burian came up with several saves. With 10 minutes left before halftime, she smothered a breakaway chance from Achiaw.
Burian then held onto a 30-yard drive early in the second half. Sophomore
Alexis Lorusso later took over in goal, coming off her line to smother several dangerous chances.
Albright (0-1) will be back on the field in less than a day, hosting Penn State- Berks tomorrow at Shirk Stadium.
