SCRANTON, Pa. – The Albright field hockey program put a lot of effort on the field Tuesday evening against Scranton in non-conference action, but fell to the Royals 2-0 from Fitzpatrick Field.

Albright's Aileen Taylor made four saves in the game as the Lions slip to 7-5 on the year.

In the contest, all of the Royals goals came in the second period of action off of penalty corners.

Scranton's Katherine McVeagh extended the lead to 2-0 in the 70th minute. Kirsta Osborne paved the way with her second assist of the night.

Within the first 15 minutes of the match, Albright was able to put up five shots on goal by Amanda Smith and Tracy Snyder while earning two penalty corners.

For the rest of the first stanza, the teams went back and forth down the field exchanging shots and saves.

At the half, Albright held the advantage in shots 6-5.

Jessica Pankey of Scranton scored the first goal of the game at the 61:31 mark with Osborne earning the assist.

The Lions continued to fight hard throughout the second stanza, earning five penalty corners to their two in the first half.

With the win, the Royals improved to 10-1 on the year. Scranton outshot Ablright 12-10 for the game.

Smith put up six shots in the game to lead the team with three of those on target.

Up next, the Lions travel to Frederick, Md., to take on Hood in conference play on Friday (Oct. 9) at 4 p.m.
