LA PLUME, Pa. – Forward
Amanda Long scored four goals for the second time this season to once again tie the school record as the Albright field hockey team raced past Keystone, 7-2, on Monday afternoon. She scored all four goals in a span of just more than 38 minutes.
The Lions (11-3) won their sixth game in seven outings, but they fell behind in the first minutes of Monday's game. The Giants scored at 4:58 off a rebound to take a 1-0 lead.
Marley Berger came back just 29 seconds later to tie the score. She scored from the right side to tie the score at 1-1, and the Lions took the lead less than two minutes after Berger's goal.
Tracy Snyder scored from the top of the circle to make it 2-1 Albright.
That's when Long took over the game. She scored her first goal off her own rebound at 13:04 to make it 3-1. She scored again off a rebound at 14:50 to make it 4-1.
Kendra Delgado chipped in with a goal just four minutes before halftime to give the Lions a 5-1 lead into the intermission.
Long recorded a hat trick and then tied the school record with tap-ins at the far post to make it 6-1 at 37:44 and 7-2 at 51:24. It's Long's second four-goal game of the season. She scored all four goals in the Lions' 4-0 win against Cedar Crest on Sept. 20. It's now the fifth instance of an Albright player scoring four goals in a game. Long now owns two of the five.
The Lions outshot Keystone, 31-10, and held a 24-6 advantage in shots on goal. Long had 11 shots, all on goal. Snyder had eight shots, six on net.
The Lions are back in action on Saturday at Arcadia.
