Lions Win Fourth Straight

WILKES-BARRE, Pa – Albirght ran its winning streak to four straight games with a 2-0 non-conference win over King's College Saturday night. The Lions are now 4-3 on the season, while the Monarchs fall to 2-3.

Sophomore Kennedy Lutz opened the scoring in the 29th minute. Lutz collected a cross from sophomore Brittany Lutz and beat King's goalkeeper Jess Schenfeld for her first goal of the season. The Monarchs nearly tied the score in the 35th minute, but Mariana Mercado's shot off a corner kick hit the crossbar and bounced away as the Lions maintained their one goal advantage.

Albright increased its lead to 2-0 early in the second half. Junior Chrissy Terraces' perfectly placed shot from the left wing hit the right post and bounced into the net in the 56th minute to give the Lions a two-goal cushion.  The goal is Terraces' third in 2016.

The Lions controlled much of the play over the final 34 minutes, and did not allow the Monarchs to get off a shot in the second half.  All that added up to the final 2-0 score and Albright's second shutout of the season.  Sophomore keeper Alexis Tunney had one save on the night in recording her second clean sheet of 2016.

Albright returns to action Tuesday night when Moravian comes to Shirk Stadium for a 7:30 non-conference match.
