Haley's Hat Trick Carries Women's Soccer Past Hood, 4-1

FREDERICK, Md. – Sophomore forward Lauren Haley notched her second hat trick of the season and the Albright Lions women's soccer team (8-1-1, 2-0 MACC) used three second half goals to pick up a 4-1 victory over the Hood Blazers (3-7, 0-2 MACC) on Wednesday night in Frederick.

Haley leads the team with 10 goals on the season and is the first Albright player to record double-digit goals since Anne Curry tallied 16 during the 2006 campaign. She is also the first player to record two hat tricks in the same season since Curry recorded five in 2005.

With the four goals on the night, Albright has scored 24 goals on the season which ties the team total from 2017.

Hood actually struck first in this one as Erin Scarborough took a feed from Elisa Botten less than 10 minutes into the game and beat Lions' keeper Alexis Tunney to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Albright tied the game following a corner kick from freshman Autumn Bieber in the 37th minute as sophomore Amanda Fulcher collected a loose ball in the box and fired home her second goal of the season.

The second half belonged to Haley as the Boyertown, Pa., native gave the Lions a 2-1 lead in the 50th minute as she chased down a through ball from Bieber and beat Hood goalie ReidAnn Sever. Haley also struck with goals in the 70th and 86th minutes to break the game open for Albright.

The Lions held a 16-7 shot advantage in the contest including an 8-3 edge in shots on target. Haley paced the visitors with eight shots, while Bieber added four. Scarborough tallied three shots to pace the Blazers.

Tunney made two saves in net for Albright, while Sever recorded four saves for Hood.

Albright is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 6 when they head to Messiah to battle the No. 2 Falcons at 5 p.m.
