GLENSIDE, Pa. – The No. 3 seed Albright Lions women's soccer team (11-4-2) dropped a 3-0 decision to the No. 2 seed Arcadia Knights (12-4-3) in the MAC Commonwealth semifinals on Wednesday night at Jean Lenox Field in Glenside.
Arcadia advances to play top seeded Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth championship game on Saturday, Nov. 3.
The Knights had a trio of free kick opportunities from the top of the box in the first half and broke through on the final attempt in the 42
nd minute as Veronica Pontis headed home a feed from Karlie Flowers to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Arcadia held an 8-0 shot advantage in the opening stanza with five shots on net.
In the 55
th minute, Julie Oswald collected a loose ball in the box off a header from Pontis and found the back of the net to extend the Arcadia lead to 2-0. Riley Nyhus made it a 3-0 game in the 75
th minute off an assist from Megan Mannato. Perhaps the best chance of the night for Albright came in the 76

Autumn Bieber sent a free kick just over the net.
Arcadia held a 14-1 shot advantage and a 9-0 edge in shots on target. Senior goalie
Alexis Tunney made six saves in net for Albright.
The game was a physical affair that featured a combined 28 fouls between the two teams.
Albright will wait to see if they have earned a berth in the ECAC Championship when the field is announced on Monday, Nov. 5.
