Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blanks Immaculata, 2-0

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Albright women's soccer team (2-0) racked up 23 shots on target en route to a 2-0 victory over the Immaculata Mighty Macs (1-1) on Monday night at Draper Walsh Stadium in Immaculata.

The win came on the heels of Saturday's 5-2 victory over Marywood and this marks the first time that the Lions have started a season 2-0 since a 6-0 start to the 2005 campaign, which was head coach Pat Stanco's first season.

Junior Jillian Lapidus put Albright on the board at the 13:48 mark of the first half as she tapped home a shot following a scramble in front of the net. The Lions racked up 17 shots and four corner kicks in the opening stanza, but were unable to put anything further on the scoreboard. The goal for Lapidus is her first since she netted one on Sept. 23, 2017 vs. Delaware Valley.

A pair of freshmen teamed up for the Lions' goal in the second half as Autumn Bieber delivered a corner kick that classmate Olivia Donkus headed to the far post and beat Immaculata goalie Brooke Shissler to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage.

Albright controlled the game throughout as they outshot the Mighty Macs by a 30-9 margin including a 23-4 edge in shots on target. Sophomore Lauren Haley, the reigning MAC
Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week, paced the Lions with 11 shots on net while freshman Carleigh Molinaro chipped in with four.

Senior Alexis Tunney notched the shutout with four saves for Albright.

The Lions return home to host the DeSales Bulldogs on Wednesday night at Shirk Stadium in Reading. Opening kick is slated for 7:30 p.m.
