SAN JUAN, P.R. – Behind a strong second half, the Albright men's basketball team was able to pull away from Shenandoah for a 68-49 victory in their second and final game in the Puerto Rico Classico on Thursday morning.
With the win, the Lions improve to 6-4 overall as they split a pair of games in Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, the Hornets of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) fall to 3-5 overall.

Sidney Brown led all scorers on the floor with a season-high 21 points behind going 8-of-14 from the field with four being three-pointers. Classmate
Samuel Majekodunmi posted a line of 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals, while
Isaiah Harris nearly posted a double-double at eight points along with nine rebounds. First-year
Jordan Guerrero posted a season-high 10 points off the bench on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and seven rebounds. Senior
DeLascio Dancy added four points, eight rebounds, and three assists in the win.
The Hornets had the early success in the contest as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead at the 16:15-mark of the first half. A three-pointer put Shenandoah up 10-5 at the 15:04-mark, but the Lions came back by taking their first lead of the game with a 12-2 run to go up 17-12 at the 10:37-mark. Albright continued the run at 21-4 in the next 3:23 of the game to go up 26-14 following a layup from Guerrero. After the Lions went up 29-16 at the 4:56-mark, the Hornets went on a 9-2 run to cut the Lions lead down to 31-25 with just 1:59 left in the first half. Albright held Shenandoah scoreless the rest of the half and took a 33-25 lead following a layup from Guerrero at the 52-second mark.
Brown got things rolling in the second half for the Lions as he scored the first five points to put Albright up 38-25 at the 18:07-mark. The burst started a 17-2 run for the Lions to open the second half that gave them a commanding 50-27 lead at the 14:46-mark. Albright held the Hornets scoreless during a stretch of 4:17, and Brown had 13 of the 17 points during the run. The Lions maintained no less than a 20-point advantage until the final 1:08 of the second half, and took their largest lead of the game at 59-34 with 9:12 left in the second half. A strong defense from the Lions did not allow the Hornets to get consecutive field goals during the entire second half. Brown scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half, and the Lions forced six steals after just having three in the first half.
The Lions shot 42.4 percent (25-of-59) from the field after going 45.2 percent in the second half. Albright shot just 6-of-21 (28.6%) from beyond the arc, while going 12-of-23 (52.2%) from the free throw line. The Lions held a commanding 52-35 advantage on the glass, and scored 21 points off 15 Hornet turnovers. Meanwhile, Shenandoah shot 30.4 percent (17-of-56) from the field and 3-of-13 (23.1%) from three-point range. The Hornets went 46.2 percent (12-of-26) from the free throw line, and forced 21 Lion turnovers.
Chris Caney led the Hornets with a team-high 11 points and seven rebounds, and Alan Dabney posted 10 points and six rebounds.
The Lions return to action on Sunday, December 29
th when they will host FDU-Florham in the first day of the Crowne Plaza Holiday Tournament at 4 p.m.
