LANDISVILLE, Pa. – The Albright men's tennis team fell 2-5 to Lancaster Bible College in the fall season opener on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville.
The Lions and the Chargers each won a set of doubles for a 1-1 match score heading into singles. Albright's
Zach Schultheis and
Arpit Gainder dropped an 8-4 decision to Lancaster Bible's Tyler Norris and Devon Clemmer at the first position. Lions
Dylan Okonski and
Ron Andanje recorded an 8-0 victory over the Chargers at the second spot.
Albright added a singles win, as Okonski topped Malachi Bumgardner by a 6-1, 6-0 count at the No. 3 position. In No. 1 singles action,
Zach Schultheis fell to Lancaster Bible's Tyler Norris 7-5, 5-7, 3-10. Clemmer won the No. 2 singles match against Gainder 6-4, 6-1. At No. 4, Albright's Andanje battled Charger's Connor Doyle 6-3, 2-6, 8-10 to a loss. Lancaster Bible's Will Hilliard won the No. 5 spot by forfeit.
The Lions return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 as they head to Westminster, Md. to face McDaniel at 3:30 p.m.
