READING, Pa. - On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, The Albright field hockey team (4-8, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) defeated visiting Stevenson (5-7, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) on Senior Day. The Lions scored two quick goals in the first quarter and never looked back from there, winning the match 4-2. Today's win marks the sixth straight time Albright has beaten Stevenson.
Prior to the start of today's game the senior members of the Albright field hockey team were recognized. Samantha McDonald, Megan Keller and Adele Thomas are the Seniors on the team and have contributed greatly to the program during their time at Albright.Â
The Albright Lions started strong which set the tone for the remainder of the game. Olivia Lorah and Laurel Gingrich both scored during the 4th minute of play giving the Lions a quick 2-0 advantage.Â
The Mustangs would add a goal just five minutes later to cut the Lion lead in half.Â
Albright wasted no time responding when Megan Keller found the back of the net just two minutes into the second quarter to stretch the lead back to two goals. Albright led 3-1 at the break.Â
Stevenson added a goal late in the third quarter to make the game interesting. Albright however would deny the Mustang comeback attempt when Amanda Smith scored in the fourth quarter to assure the Lions the victory.Â
Gingrich, Lamya Mejias, Amanda Smith and Lorah were credited with the assists on the four Albright goals.Â
Albright held the shot advantage (10-2) and the penalty corner advantage (10-2) over Stevenson.Â
Coach Co said afterwards, "I am really proud of the way our team handled the pressure today and were able to stay composed from start to finish. We had a really strong start and found a way to hold on to that lead throughout the game. It was a total team effort that led to this first conference win!"

The Albright field hockey team is at home on Wednesday, October 12 at 7 p.m. against local rival Alvernia. The Lions will look to extend their two game win streak to three games on Wednesday evening.Â
