Women’s soccer drops match to Rutgers-Newark

Reading PA – The women's soccer team dropped a tightly contested match to visiting Rutgers-Newark. The loss drops the Lions to 1-4-3 on the season.

The first half played to a scoreless draw as both teams looked to gain possession throughout the midfield. There were six shots total in the half with Rutgers-Newark producing five of the six.

The game remained scoreless until the 77th minute when Rutgers-Newark was finally able to get past the pesky Albright defense. Hannah Crowley collected a bouncing ball and finished from there.

The 77th minute goal proved to be the difference in the defensive battle allowing Rutgers-Newark to escape with a 1-0 victory.

The first-year goalie Alexis Solt was outstanding between the pipes yet again. Solt turned away the opposing attack time and time again finishing with a game high five saves.

The women's soccer team will have a week off before heading to Kings College (PA) for a 1 p.m. kick-off on Saturday, September 24.
