READING, Pa. – The Albright field hockey team (7-9, 3-3 MAC Commonwealth) hosted the #9 team in the country York College (Pa.) Spartans (14-2, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) on Wednesday afternoon. The Spartans took todays game over the Lions by a final score of 1-0.

The Lions will now turn their focus to Saturday's game against Eastern, needing a win to qualify for the MAC Commonwealth playoffs in back to back seasons.
In tonight's game, York College (Pa.) got on the board first after a flurry of saves Veronica Heckman. Heckman made four saves in the initial scramble in front of the cage but York's fifth shot found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.

The Lions had their own opportunity to take an early 1-0 lead before the York (Pa.) goal. After the Lions got in behind the back line of the Spartan defense, Chelsea Johnson fired a shot that looked to be going into the net but was saved off the line by York's defender Reese Hardman.

The 1-0 lead would hold until halftime for the Spartans. Heckman was spectacular in the first half making 10 saves.

The second half would feature back and forth action from both sides in a really well played field hockey game.
