Women’s Soccer Closes Out Regular Season on Senior Day

The Albright women’s soccer team closed out their regular season on Saturday (Oct. 28) evening on Senior Day.

READING, Pa. - The Albright women's soccer team (4-12-2, 0-6-1 MAC Commonwealth) closed out the regular season at home on Saturday evening against Eastern University (4-6-6, 3-2-2 MAC Commonwealth). The Eagles from Eastern won tonight's game by a final score of 2-1. 

Prior to today's game, the Albright women's soccer team honored their two graduating seniors. The graduating seniors are, #4 Emily Sellers and #20 Caroline Parker

The game remained scoreless throughout the first half seeing neither side breaking through.

Despite nothing on the scoreboard there was plenty of action from both sides. The Lions fired seven first half shots looking to take an early advantage. 

Mackeznie Sowers recorded three first half shots while Alyssa DeVita tallied two shots to pace the Lions offense. McKenna Levan made four first half saves in another strong half for the Albright goalie. 

Eastern scored twice in a 10 minute span to take a 2-0 lead in the second half. However the Lions would not go down without a fight. 

Albright earned a penalty kick in the 65th minute of play. Sowers stepped up to take the penalty and converted on the penalty to cut the Eastern lead in half to make it a 2-1 game. 

LeVan was called upon in the 74th minute to make a save off an Eastern penalty kick attempt. LeVan was there to answer the call making a tremendous save to keep Albright in the game. 

The Lions gave it a valiant effort over the final 20 minutes of the game but were unable to find the equalizer. Eastern escaped with a 2-1 victory over Albright. 

Albright finished the game with 12 total shots led by Sowers's five. DeVita was second on team reregistering three shots. 

Maggie Williams, Audrey Solt, Nyla Callahan and Haley Denuto were all credited with one shot in tonights contest. 

LeVan finished the game with eight saves in another fantastic game from Albright's goalie.
