BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Albright women's indoor track and field team officially begun their season on Friday (Dec. 1) afternoon at the Mountain Hawk Opener hosted by Leigh University.

With the start of the season, the Albright men's and women's track and field teams are officially under the new guidance of head coach Mike Massone. Massone was officially hired by Albright College on August 9 of this year. Massone takes over for former head coach Deenen Ebling who held the same position for 20 years at Albright.
Massone comes to Albright with a wealth of coaching experience in track and field at the collegiate level. Massone has been a coach for 15 seasons spending time in all divisions of collegiate athletics with stops at Saint Peters University, Fordham University and New York University. Massone was the head coach for 10 years at Saint Peters and was a 6x time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year recipient at the University.
A number of Albright student-athletes were in action this weekend across the two-day Mountain Hawk Opener. In total, six Albright Lions took to the track in the forms of
Alyssa DeVita,
Maggie Williams,
Mary Quinn,
Leah Brown,
Nyla Callahan and
Taisha Charles.
Alyssa DeVita and
Maggie Williams highlighted the weekend for the Lions. DeVita took first in her heat in the 200m dash. DeVita won her heat with a blazing time of 1:03.27. Williams took aim in the shotput and took home 7
th overall. Williams round three throw of 9.90 was good enough for the top eight finish.

The women's indoor track and field team will head to Ursinus College on Friday, December 8 for the Bow Tie Invitational. The Invitational is set to begin at 4 p.m.
