Albright Tabs Kyle Martyn as Next Head Women’s Soccer Coach

Albright College announced the hiring of Kyle Martyn on Tuesday morning as head coach of the women’s soccer program.

READING, PA. – Albright college has named Kyle Martyn as the new head coach of the women's soccer program by co directors of athletics Janice Luck and Rick Ferry. Martyn will immediately step into the head coaching role taking over from current men's head soccer coach Pat Stanco.  

Martyn comes to Albright with over 10 years of playing and coaching experience in various roles. Martyn has coached at the amateur and professional levels bringing with him unmatched passion and intensity for the game as well as extensive knowledge of the game.  

"I am incredibly excited to be the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Albright College. A massive thank you to Janice Luck and the search committee for entrusting me with this position. We will consistently work to cultivate a daily environment that inspires and drives our student athletes to be the best version of themselves on and off the field." Said newly minted head coach Kyle Martyn.

In addition to being the head coach of the Lions, Martyn will maintain his previous roles consisting of the Senior Girls Director of the Ukrainian Nationals Soccer Club, coaching educator and certified talent scout for the United States Soccer Federation, as well as being the lead assistant coach for USL league two side West Chester United where he had been on staff since the 2017 season. Martyn has also spent time coaching in the high school ranks as the assistant girls' varsity coach at Penncrest high school for four seasons from 2014-2018.

Martyn led Penncrest to Central League Champions in 2017 as well as a state quarterfinal appearance the same season. During the 2015 and 2016 seasons, Penncrest appeared in the PIAA District finals.

Martyn has a deep passion for the game and strives for greatness on and off the field, "We will strive to be at forefront of what it means to be a collegiate student athlete, all of which will be based around the highest levels of character and integrity. I look forward to working with all the players, colleagues and alumni to ensure this program can the best it can be. Berks County and the surrounding Reading area has always had such a rich and unique soccer culture. The Albright Women's Soccer Program will not only embody but enhance that culture. This an exciting time in the programs history and I can't wait to get started." 

Martyn is a 2013 graduate of Alvernia University where he was a standout student-athlete on the men's soccer team. Martyn was recognized for his outstanding 2012 season being named a regional All-American as well as Middle Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year. After Alvernia, Martyn went on to play for the professional club, Harrisburg City Islanders for two seasons from 2013-2015.
