READING, Pa. - The Albright men's tennis team (3-2) hosted a traditionally strong Penn State Harrisburg team (2-1) on Tuesday afternoon in the teams second last match of the fall season. The Nittany Lions won today's match 4-3 over the Lions.
Prior to today's match, the MAC announced that
Gerardo Sanchez was named MAC Commonwealth Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Sanchez led the Lions to a 7-0 win over Penn State Berks last week going 2-0 in his two matches played. The Player of the Week honor is the second of Sanchez's career.
Clay Lewandowski earned a hard-fought win in number five singles play. Lewandowski dropped the first set but battled back to win the match in three sets. 10-6 was the third set score seeing Lewandowski prevailing in the end.
Gavin Buckley was dominate in number six singles winning his match in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.
Albright won two of three doubles matches to earn the team doubles point for the Lions.
Dylan Huha and
Gerardo Sanchez won number two doubles in a tiebreak 7-6 (8-6) while
Kobe Serpa and Lewandowksi won number three doubles 6-2.
