FREDERICK, Md. – Field Hockey (5-11, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) played in their first road game in eight days on Wednesday evening against Hood College (9-6, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth). The Blazers took today's game by a final score of 2-1.
Today's game marked the second to last road game of the season for the Lions. Additionally, it was the first game the Lions played on the road since their game against Widener on October 12.
Hood College found their first goal of the game just before the end of the first period. The 1-0 score would hold until halftime in favor of Hood.
The Blazers doubled their lead in the third period going up 2-0. The Lions did not go down without a fight as
Olivia Lorah brought the Lions within one scoring six minutes after Hood's second goal.
Albright looked to tie the game late off a shot from Lorah but the attempt was turned aside by the Blazers goalie allowing Hood to escape with a 2-1 win over Albright.
Lorah scored her seventh goal of the season via a penalty stroke this evening. The seven total goals gives the standout Lion a new career high for a season. Lorah led the team in shots with six total.
Chelsea Johnson was second on team in shots looking to solve the Blazers defense.
Aliza Langlois fired two shots while
Keliah Santiago and
Amanda Smith each had one shot a piece rounding out the offensive output for the Lions.
