Women’s Lacrosse Drops Nonconference Game to Immaculata 21-16

The Lions women’s lacrosse team went on the road for the third time this season and dropped the nonconference match to Immaculata on the Mighty Macs home turf.

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Albright women's lacrosse team (0-4) was in action tonight for the first time since this past weekend going on the road to Immaculata (2-1). The Lions dropped the game to the Mighty Macs 21-16.

Kayte Moist continued her strong play of late scoring seven more times in tonight's game. Moist has been on fire to start the year having scored seven goals in back to back games against Elizabethtown and now tonight against Immaculata. Moist finished her night registering eight points while dishing out one assist.

Riley Basht scored three goals tonight marking the first time the first-year attacker has scored a hattrick this season. Basht fired 11 shots total in tonight's game placing six of them on frame. Additionally, Basht picked up three groundballs in an all-around strong game.

Lucy Moreland and Sarah Chernis each scored twice tonight on a combined eight total shots. Chernis dished out a career high four assists beating her previous career best of two assists in a game. Overall Chernis finished with six points while Moreland ended her night with two points.

The Mighty Macs took an 11-7 lead into halftime after 20 minutes of play. Immaculata began to pull away from the Lions in the second quarter outscoring the Lions 6-3 in the frame.

Albright looked poised to make a comeback in the second half. Albright cut their deficit down to three with 13:56 left in the game. However, from that point, the Mighty Macs went on a 5-3 run to close out the game and earn the victory over Albright.

Brianna Kung and Katelyn Patrick each scored one goal tonight. Kung and Patrick goals were both their second of the seasons.

Cynthia Schneider recorded two caused turnovers and three ground balls defensively for the Lions.
 
Up Next:
The Lions next game will come this weekend against Delaware Valley on Saturday, March 2. The game is set for an early morning start at 11 a.m.
