READING, Pa. – The Albright women's tennis team (15-2, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) is enjoying one of the best seasons in school history. Today, the Lions made more history becoming the first team to earn the #1 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth playoffs in program history. Albright concluded the regular season going a perfect 6-0 in MAC Commonwealth play.
Toady's 9-0 win over Eastern is the eighth straight overall and the fifth straight sweep the Lions have earned. Albright has won a total of 15 matches this year combining the fall and spring seasons.
Albright was utterly dominate in conference play this season proving to be no match for their opponents. The Lions toughest match of the conference slate came in the opener beating Messiah 5-4. Since that match, Albright has combined to go 42-3 against their opponents in team scoring. That means of the 45 total team points available in singles and doubles matches, Albright won 42 of them.
By clinching the number one seed, Albright will host the first round of the MAC Commonwealth playoffs. The Lions do not know their first-round opponent yet as the rest of the MAC Commonwealth member institutions conclude their season on Saturday (April 27).

Alex Pancu went 6-0 in MAC play this season. Not only did Pancu go 6-0 in MAC play, the standout Lion won every match in straight sets. 6-3, 6-3 was the closest margin of victory for Pancu in conference play and also won five sets games by a 6-0 score line, an impressive feat in #1 singles.
Alizabeth Zarnofsky made it two Lions to finish the MAC slate with a perfect record at 5-0. Zarnofsky played in #5 and #6 singles throughout the year and never went to a third set. All five wins for Zarnofsky came in straight sets
Michelle Timothy is a solid as they come in #2 singles play wrapping up her conference slate today improving to 5-1. Timothy won in straight sets this afternoon winning the match today 6-0, 6-0. In the last two matches played Timothy has only dropped one total set.
Valeria Sanchez is one of four Lions to finish with a 5-1 record or better in MAC play this season. Sanchez has a MAC Player of the Week under her belt this season and showed why this afternoon by winning 6-1, 6-0. Sanchez was instrumental in the Lions win earlier this year over Messiah winning in three sets in #4 singles.
Elicia Aponte has played well all season long as the Lions #3 singles player. With another dominating victory today, Aponte improved her MAC record to 4-2 on the year. Aponte marked the second Lion this afternoon to win in straight sets without dropping a single game in the two sets.
Alaina Smith has started five matches in conference play and has gone 4-1 in those matches inserted into #5 singles. Smith won her fourth match this afternoon in straight sets by winning 6-3, 6-3.
Earning a point today for Albright in #6 singles was
Megan Colaneri. Colaneri earned the start and proceeded to display a dominating effort in a 6-1, 6-1 straight sets victory.
Macie Littleton and
Saba Soroush teamed up in #3 doubles action and won in convincing fashion. Littleton and Soroush won by a score line of 8-3.

Albright will now enjoy the luxury of having a non-conference tune up match before playoffs. Albright will head to Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, April 27 with first serve set for a 11:30 a.m. start time.
