Men’s Tennis Edged Out by York College 5-4 in Trilling Match

The Lions hosted York College on Tuesday afternoon playing in their second MAC Commonwealth match of the 2024 Spring season. The Spartans won today 5-x.

READING, Pa. – The Albright men's tennis team returned to action hosting their first MAC Commonwealth match of the 2024 Spring season against York College on Wednesday afternoon. The Spartans of York College won today by a final score of 5-4.
 
The Lions won four of the six singles matches on the afternoon. The Spartans were able to win the match by winning all three of the doubles matches to escape Albright with a win. Albright has shown tremendous improvement this year under the leadership of head coach Miranda Brown. Today's result is the closest match between the two schools since at least the 2017-18 season.
 
Gerardo Sanchez won his match in straight sets this afternoon in #3 singles play. Sanchez won the first set in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-3) and carried the momentum into set number two winning the match with a second set score of 6-4.
 
Dylan Huha took home the win in #4 singles play with a win in three sets. Huha won easily in the first set winning 6-0 to take a 1-0 sets lead. The second set went to York College but Huha never wavered and battled back in the third set doubling up the opposition winning the match and the third set tie break, 10-5.
 
Sean Peppiatt was fantastic in his #5 singles match only dropping two games out of the possible 12. Peppiatt won the first set 6-2 and followed that up with a dominating second set winning 6-0.
 
Clay Lewandowski rounded out the singles wins for Albright in #7 singles play. Lewandowski went to a first set tiebreak and won the tiebreak by blanking his opponent 7-0. Lewandowski found his form in the second set to take the match winning the second set, 6-2.
 
Up Next:

The Lions will head across town to Alvernia for a matchup against the Golden Wolves. The match is set for a 1:00 p.m. start time on Saturday, April 13.
