Women’s Soccer Drops Non-Conference Match to Rutgers-Newark

Albright women’s soccer played their third straight home game hosting Rutgers-Newark on Saturday night. The Scarlet Raiders escaped with a 2-0 win over the Lions.

READING, Pa. – Women's soccer concluded their three-game home stand with a non-conference match against Rutgers-Newark. The Scarlet Raiders took today's game over the Lions by a final score of 2-0.

Rutgers-Newark and Albright have matched up in each of the last two seasons. Last year, Albright won on the Scarlet Raiders home turf 1-0. With the Lions defeat tonight, the two sides split the home and home series.

The visitors scored twice in the first half to lead 2-0 after 45 minutes of play. The halftime scored would hold until the end of the game.

Daiveni Fisher looked to spark the Lions offense trying to get behind the oppositions back line. Fisher ended with 2 shots.

Audrey Solt had free kick opportunities in the offensive third for Albright. Solt placed two of them on frame but the Rutgers-Newark goalie was up to the task making both saves. Solt ended with a team high three shots.

Despite the loss, McKenna LeVan made six saves in net for the Lions.
