ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – Men's tennis (7-8, 3-2 MAC Commonwealth) picked up a huge win over Eastern (4-11, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) on Tuesday afternoon beating the Eagles 6-1. The win for the Lions puts themselves in the driver's seat to make a return appearance in the MAC Commonwealth playoffs.
With one MAC Commonwealth match left to play this season, the Lions are currently sitting in fourth place with a 3-2 conference record. Eastern is now in fifth place but cannot pass the Lions even if the Eagles win their last Commonwealth match.
All six singles matches played this afternoon were won by Albright in straight sets.
Adam Good picked up his third win in conference play this afternoon winning 6-1, 6-1. Good is the Lions No. singles player and showed why today. Good has won three of his last four matches overall.
Dylan Huha continues to dominate his opposition winning again today with ease. Huha won 6-1, 6-0 for his seventh consecutive win overall. Huha has only dropped one match during the spring season, which game in the opening match of the spring. The junior Lion is now a perfect 4-0 in MAC Commonwealth play this season.
Gerardo Sanchez got back in the win column on Tuesday afternoon winning his No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-0.
First-year,
Nikolai Damman won easily in No. 4 singles winning 6-0, 6-1. Damman has now won two of his last three matches overall.
Clay Lewandowski continued the trend of strong play in No. 4 singles. Lewandowski won 6-1, 6-4 to improve to 3-2 in Commonwealth play this season.
Kobe Serpa won by the same scoreline in each set of 6-3, 6-3 in No. 6 singles. With the win, Serpa is now 3-2 in MAC Commonwealth play.
The duo of
Gavin Buckley and
Dominic Perch battled tough in No. 3 doubles but came up just short dropping their match 7-6 (6-4).
