Field Hockey Begins Season on the Road at Penn State Harrisburg

The 2025 field hockey season began on Friday afternoon commencing the start of the 2025 fall athletic season at Albright.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The 2025 Albright field hockey season began on Friday afternoon seeing the Lions open their season on the road at Penn State Harrisburg. The Nittany Lions protected home field winning 5-0 to begin their season at 1-0 while the Lions fell to 0-1.

Coach Co is back on the sidelines for the Lions beginning her fourth season as the head coach of the program. In coach Co's first season with the Lions, she led the program to their first ever playoff victory with a 1-0 win over Widener in the first round of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Championships.

Joining coach Co on the sidelines this season is Samantha Karmonick who is in her first season with the Lions as an assistant coach.

Penn State Harrisburg netted three first half goals to take a 3-0 lead after the first 30 minutes of play. Just before halftime, Albright earned their first penalty corner of the game looking to get on the board. The Nittany Lions were able to defend the penalty corner successfully preserving the shutout.

Each team was credited with one penalty corner in the first half.

The Nittany Lions scored twice more in the second half and were able to close out the Lions over the last 30 minutes of play.

Making their Albright debuts today was Sophia Dalyai, Bobbie Van Oordt, Rebecca Geiger, Anna Schuemann, Mackenzie Bunn and Ahleena Miller.

Albright will head to MAC Freedom member institution Arcadia University on Wednesday September 3 to face the Knights at 4:00 p.m.
