READING, Pa. – Field Hockey (1-4) returned home for a Saturday morning match against FDU-Florham (1-3). Following a back and forth 60-minute defensive battle, the Lions would hold on for their first win of the season via a 1-0 shutout.

Following a scoreless first quarter,
Keliah Santiago would find the back of the net in the 22
nd minute of play for the game's lone goal.
Rayven Muller picked up her first assist of the season in the process.Â

Also picking up shots on goal were
McKena Cox and
Bobbie Van Oordt who each created multiple additional scoring chances for the Lions. The Lions did a good job of getting into the offensive zone earning eight penalty corners on the afternoon.Â
"It was such a great team win today, especially after fighting so hard last game but still coming up short. I am really proud of this team and how they never stopped playing. Today showed their resilience both on and off the ball." Said, Coach Co. "Our attack did a great job to set themselves up for some good opportunities, and it was nice to see our senior captain

Aside from Santiago's goal, both teams turned in strong defensive performances and broke up a number of promising scoring opportunities. Heavily present on the defensive end for the Lions was
Rebecca Geiger who had a number of clutch breakups.Â

Mackenzie Bunn started in goal and picked up her first collegiate win and shutout after making a pair of saves to keep FDU_Florham off the board.Â
