Blazers pull away late from Lions

FREDERICK, Md. - The Albright College field hockey team kept within striking distance through the first 45 minutes of play, but host Hood College pulled away late to pick up a 5-0 decision in a MAC Commonwealth contest on Wednesday evening.

The Blazers opened up the scoring with a goal at the 3:10 mark of the first quarter. Both teams had several scoring opportunities the remainder of the first and throughout the second quarter, though neither could register a goal. Hood doubled its lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 40th minute. The home squad put the game out of reach with a trio of goals over a five minute stretch of the fourth quarter.

Bobbie Van Oordt and Jessica Butz both recorded shots, but were not able to slip it past the goalkeeper. Delana Dunkelberger finished with 10 saves for the Lions.
