Late Lions Goal Lifts Women’s Soccer Over Alvernia

The Lions earned their first conference win in gutsy fashion against Alvernia.

READING, Pa. – Women's Soccer (7-5-1, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) traveled a short way down the road to face Alvernia (3-4-3, 0-1-1 MAC Commonwealth) for some Reading vs. Reading action. Both teams turned in outstanding defensive efforts with one Lion breakthrough being enough to hold on for a 1-0 victory.

Neither team generated much momentum in the opening half with only four total shots being put on goal between the two sides. Abigale Landis and Bree Hancock and Clare Caldaro coordinated a defensive effort that held the Golden Wolves to only five total shots on goal.

The Lions finally broke through for the game's lone goal in the 76th minute courtesy of Daiveni Fisher off and assist from Brylie Jensen. Fisher is currently enjoying career highs in goals (5) assists (2) and shots (33) this season.

Olivia Reinhart saved all five shots she faced for her fourth shutout win of the season. Through 11 games this season, the Lions have outscored their opponents 17-11 with Reinhart in goal.
