Pat McDevitt was named the men's and women's swimming assistant coach and assistant aquatics director at Albright College in the summer of 2013.
His responsibilites at Albright include assisting head coach John Stuhltrager with all areas of the swim programs (on-deck coaching, practice and competitions; working with athletes with weight and dry land training; recruiting new student-athletes; budget management and equipment ordering; and travel coordination), and the administration of the aquatics program including management of the Aquatic Center, supervising swimming lessons, and staffing of swim instructors and life guards.
In his first season with the team, the Lion men had a perfect 12-0 season, won the MAC championship, and produced two All-American performances at the NCAA championship meet. The women were 11-1 and placed second in the MAC.
McDevitt is a 2012 graduate of Gettysburg College with a degree in political science and a minor in history. He was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (S.A.A.C.) and made the Dean's Commendation List in 2011.
He was a member of the 2011 and 2012 Centennial Conference teams, and set a school record in the 400 IM. Gettysburg placed 14th at the NCAA Division III national meet in McDevitt's senior season.
In high school, McDevitt was an All-Conference and All-County swimmer at Monsignor Bonner High School, and also competed with the Lansdowne YMCA Club team.
Last year, McDevitt coached with the Phoenixville Area YMCA swim team, helping athletes to numerous national qualifying times. He has also worked Mercersburg Academy summer swim clinics.
McDevitt has his YMCA National Coaches Certification, and is also certified in Red Cross CPR/First Aid/Lifeguarding.
