Rick Sutton, the greatest distance swimmer in Albright history, enters his fourth season as an assistant coach on the Lions staff in 2018-19.
He has helped coach the Albright men's team to back-to-back MAC Championships in 2017 and 2018, to bring the program total to 11 titles. In his first season on staff, Sutton helped lead the Albright men to a second-place finish at the 2016 Middle Atlantic Conference championships.
Sutton finished his career in 2014-15 with another dominant performance at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. He captured titles in the 500 freestyle and the 1,650 freestyle events for the fourth consecutive year making him the first Albright swimmer to ever win four consecutive titles in two separate events.
Albright won the MAC team title in all four years that Sutton competed and he won 12 individual and relay conference championships.
Sutton owns seven Albright school records and three pool records. He is the school record holder in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle, 1,000 freestyle, 1,650 freestyle, 800 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay.
The Hatboro, Pa., native was named the MAC Rookie of the Year in 2011-12 and received the David B. Eavenson Award in 2012 for the top swimmer at the conference championship.
