Kerry Regner has been named the men’s wrestling coach at Albright College, as announced by the athletic department on Wednesday morning. Coach Regner will lead the team into their first season competing since 2006 beginning next winter in 2025-26 academic year.  

Albright is gearing up for their first wrestling season since 2006 beginning later this calendar year.

“We are happy first and foremost to be bringing wrestling back to Albright and are thrilled to have coach Regner lead the way for the program. Coach Regner’s resume speaks for itself having a vast wealth of knowledge and experience. “Said Athletic Director Rick Ferry. “Myself and the rest of the athletic department are thrilled to bring in coach Regner and can’t wait to see his team compete next winter.”

Regner spent the last two years as the Director of Coaching Development with the National Wrestlers Coaches Association (NWCA) out of Manheim, Pa. While serving in the role, Regner was responsible for all logistics for coaching development and the NWCA Scholastic Leadership Academies. Among many other roles as the Director for Coaching Development, Regner ran successful Blue Chip Prospect camps helping student-athletes get to the next level.

Through the process their hospitality and plans for Albright athletics sold me to this new venture”, said newly minted head coach, Kerry Regner, “I love coaching, for me it is not just a passion but a calling. Through the Albright wrestling program, I look forward to bringing quality young men to Albright College that will continue to strengthen the athletic department and the college as a whole.”
 
From 2017 to 2022, Regner was the head coach of Division II Millersville wrestling program where he had success on and off the mat. At Millersville, Regner led Millersville to an 11th place finish at nationals in 2019 while coaching an individual to a NCAA championship the same year. Four student-athletes became NCAA All-Americans under the leadership of coach Regner while six different student-athletes became national qualifiers.  

Prior to his stint at Millersville, Regner was the head coach at Williams Baptist College in Arkansas. Regner was the first wrestling coach in Williams Baptist history after creating the varsity wrestling program. At Williams Baptist, coach Regner ended his tenure seeing his team finish 4th, 15th and 21st at the national tournament while having one national champion, six All-Americans and 23 national qualifiers.

As a wrestler himself Regner was a 9x medalist and top five place winner at international competitions, a 4x US Open place winner, a member of the 2007-08 US Senior National Team as well as a 2010 University World team member.

Regner is a graduate of Northern Michigan University with a Bachelors of Communication Studies and would later to go on to earn a Masters degree in Mass Media and Journalism with a certificate in Public Relations from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
