READING, Pa. - Led by the hot shooting pair of
Zac Shaeffer and
Matt Ashcroft the undefeated Lions (6-0) improved their win streak to six straight games with a 85-62 decision over local rival Penn State Berks (1-7) Tuesday evening.
On the day, Shaeffer and Ashcroft combined for 34 points respectively. From the field the juniors were 12-for-18, while from three point range the two were 9-for-14. At the free throw line Shaeffer was 1-for-2.
Sophomore
Derek Hall finished just short of a double-double with nine points and a team high eight rebounds.
Adam Van Zelst tallied a game high seven assists, and picked up one steal and four boards as well.
As a team the red hot Lions shot over 46% from the field and were 11-for-25 from behind the arc. They also led the contest in rebounding pulling down a total of 43 boards as compared to the Nittany Lions 38.
For the host Nittany Lions, Kemian Flowers matched the game high 19 points, but also recorded 10 rebounds to earn the games only double-double. Adam Fusco was another double-figure scorer for Berks with 16 points. Defensively, Flowers added five blocks to his line as well in Tuesday's non-conference loss.
The Lions dominated the first half of play on both sides of the court scoring a total of 34 points while limiting the host Nittany Lions to just 19. The second half proved to be much closer, but Albright still pulled away with the win tallying 51 points.
Men's Basketball returns to action this Friday when they travel to King's College to take part in the King's College/Ramada Inn Tournament. In game one of the tournament the Lions will face nationally ranked Richard Stockton College at 6 p.m.
