READING, Pa. - Looking to end their recent two-game skid the Lions (17-4/8-3 CC) returned to their home court Thursday evening, where they defeated the visiting Knights of Arcadia University (6-15/0-11 CC) by the final score of 73-56 in the Bollman Center.
Playing a major part in the win was the Lions bench who combined for 30 points on the night. Shane Irwin and Jeff Sparrow combined for 24 points respectively, while Zac Shaeffer scored a game-high 16 points in Thursday's win.
On the night the Lions shot over 41% from the filed, 27% from behind the arc, and 78% from the line. Albright also dominated the boards totaling 52 on the night as compared to Arcadia's 30.
From the start, the red and white controlled the momentum of Thursday's contest jumping out to a commanding 46-18 lead through the first 20 minutes of play. Albright shot over 47% from the floor in the first half, and were nearly perfect at the line making seven of their nine attempts.
On the night, the Lions defense proved exceptionally strong forcing 11 turnovers, while also tallying four steals and six blocks. However, the Lions offense had a tough time possessing the ball totaling 20 turnovers of their own.
Following the dominant first half of play, the Lions seemed to fall back on their heels in the second. Despite cooling off on the offensive side of the ball, the red and white still managed to prevent any type of Arcadia comeback through the final 20 minutes of play.
The Lions who led by as much as 29 points, eventually walked away with a 17 point victory to sweep the season series over the Knights.
Men's Basketball returns to action this Saturday when they travel to Lebanon Valley for a 2 p.m. conference contest.
