Women's Basketball Falls to DeSales in Non-Conference Action

Box Score

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Led by Lori Lidlow's game-high 22 points the Bulldogs of DeSales University (11-7) handed women's basketball (6-10) their final non-conference loss of the 2010-11 season as they defeated the red and white by the final score of 91-57 Thursday afternoon in Billera Hall.

Helping Lidlow to the Bulldog's win was Colleen Gavin who recorded a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Sondrine Glovas and Faith Gilbert also added to the win as they combined for 33 points respectively.

Albright's top offensive producer was freshman center Meghan Boyle, who put up 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, and 3-of-4 shooting at the line. Despite shooting over 41% on the night, the Lady Lions coughed up a season-high 34 turnovers, while DeSales who shot over45% in each half surrendered just 19 turnovers.

DeSales controlled Thursday's match-up from the opening jump. Less than seven minutes in the Bulldogs held a 17-point advantage over the red and white. However, the Lions came roaring back around the midway point to cut the then huge deficit down to seven following a 12-2 run.

Unfortunately, DeSales managed to regroup and took back control of the scoreboard, and closed out the first half with a 19-point lead. After the break, the Bulldogs continued to dominate both sides of the court to walk away with the win.

Thursday's victory also marked the 400th career win for DeSales head coach Fred Richter who is now in his 21st season.

Women's basketball returns to action on Saturday when they host Lycoming College at 2 p.m. in the Bollman Center.
