GRANTHAM, Pa. – Even with strong performances by
Victoria Foanio and
Desiree Owle, women's tennis (0-9/0-3 Commonwealth) was unable to pull out the conference victory as they were handed a 7-2 loss by Messiah College (3-7/2-0 Commonwealth) Saturday afternoon.
Foanio and Owle combined for Albright's only doubles victory, a 8-5 win at first flight. In singles play, Foanio picked-up her 11th win of the year with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Erin Ipsen. Owle nearly earned a singles victory over her own, but was defeated in the first set tie-breaker 7-6 (6-2) and in the second set by the score of 6-0.
Chrissy Mouakad also played a solid match on Saturday falling at sixth flight by the scores of 6-1, 6-3. At second doubles Stephanie Chang and
Nazma Ali were handed an 8-1 decision by Kristen Chen and Cassie Beck.
Women's tennis returns to action on Monday when they host Cheyney University at 3:30 p.m.
