Katy Oeste won her first-ever collegiate singles match as the Albright College women's tennis team fell 8-1 to Division II Kutztown University on Tuesday.
Oeste joined the tennis squad this spring after helping the Albright women's swimming team to the Middle Atlantic Conference championship, and was immediately plugged into the third singles spot. She made an immediate impression, defeating
Chelsea White 7-5, 6-3.
It was also the first match for head coach Jeremy Speicher, an Albright tennis alum who took over the team this winter.
At second doubles Oeste teamed with freshman
Melissa Carberry, losing 8-4. In the top spot, sophomore
Victoria Foanio and freshman
Alyssa Sell fell 8-5.
Foanio went the distance in her singles match, losing in the top spot 4-6, 6-4, 10-2 to Kutztown's
Hannah Pipkin.
Albright falls to 2-5 with the loss, and will travel to York on Friday. The Golden Bears are 3-7 overall.
