Albright College senior
George Cook has been rewarded for his success both in athletics and in the classroom, earning the Middle Atlantic Conference indoor track Scholar-Athlete Award.
The award goes to one MAC senior in each sport with a minimum GPA of 3.2. The MAC Awards Committee bases selection on academic record (50%) and athletic prowess (50%).
Cook, a political science major, has a GPA of 3.80. He is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha (the National Political Science Honor Society), is a Jacob Albright Scholar and was named to the MAC Honor Roll.
On the track, Cook earned second team All-MAC honors in the 800 meters and set school records in the indoor 1000 and 5000 meters. He was the MAC Athlete of the Week once.
Cook was also a first team All-MAC selection in cross country this fall, along with winning two meets and earning another conference Runner of the Week award.
Service and leadership was also taken into account, among other activities Cook serves as Vice President of the Albright Model United Nations.
