The Albright College women's tennis team won the top three singles matches but fell just short in the overall scoring, losing 5-4 to host Lycoming on Thursday in Commonwealth Conference action.
In the Lions' first conference match, they took a 5-4 decision over Arcadia after winning the two closest points of the day. This time the script was flipped, as Albright fell short in two close matches.
Number-one doubles pairing
Victoria Foanio and
Christina Peacock lost a tough 9-7 battle, while freshman
Melissa Carberry led 5-2 in the opening set at fifth singles, but ultimately fell 7-5, 6-2.
Foanio did win again at first singles, with an almost perfect 6-0, 6-1 decision.
Alyssa Sell (second) and
Katy Oeste (third) also won easily in their individual matches.
Sell and Oeste teamed at second doubles for an 8-1 victory.
Albright is 5-7, 1-1 and will host Cheyney and Alvernia on consecutive days tomorrow and Saturday.
