The Albright College men's lacrosse team out-scored Elizabethtown 5-0 in the third quarter to break a halftime deadlock and win 13-7, Saturday in Elizabethtown, Pa.
Reigning conference Player of the Week
T.J. Holston scored five times and added an assist, while fellow freshman
Dan Foote scored twice.
Philip Potter,
Bryan Smith and
Mike Southwick each dished out a pair of assists.
For the second consecutive time, an Albright conference game was tied after the first quarter (2-2), and at halftime (5-5). This time the Lions didn't have to wait for overtime however, pulling away with a strong third quarter performance.
Ryan Turner got things going with 13:10 left in the third, and Foote scored 23 seconds later to make it 7-5. Both goals were assisted by Southwick.
Holston and
Kyle McCabe scored less than a minute apart later in the period, before
Justin Brown capped the third quarter with a goal, 4:24 on the clock.
Albright's run stretched to 8-0 as
Andrew Poitras and
Joe Devinney tallied in the fourth quarter, before Holston struck with 3:32 remaining to make it 13-5 Lions.
Freshman
Andrew Torak continued his solid play in goal, stopping 13 shots and adding four ground balls. Defensemen
Mike Donohoe and
Sean Cunningham each caused three turnovers and picked up four ground balls.
The Lions improve to 12-1, 2-0 and will look to continue their bright conference start with a visit from Lebanon Valley on Wednesday.
